Hillmomba Is Hot

How hot was it today in Hillmomba?

*105 degrees in the garage

*the dogs lay listlessly on the porch, not even chewing on the half of a right deer antler that had entertained them with such enthusiasm two nights ago

*the top guinea only bit one chicken on the butt

*Bathing Beauty H did not float on a raft in Poolio, but instead sat on a blue pool noodle, mostly submerged, like an aqua-cowboy riding a hollow headless seahorse

*the doorknob on the front door burned my hand like I was Joe Pesci in Home Alone

*I felt sorry for the idiot man-child with a beard skateboarding down a blind hill on two-lane, no-shoulder, rural blacktop

I can completely relate. It has been so hot here that every time I go outside I expect to smell brimstone because we must be getting awfully close to hell to be this blooming hot. Our average temp for the month of June was 103ยบ, it was an unfortunate record for us. I am in North Texas right outside of Wichita Falls, we used to joke that if you didn't like the weather just wait a few minutes and it would change but nowadays (is that really a word, LOL) it just from scorching hot to inferno. I bet come February I will be griping about the cold and fondly remembering the good days of summer, LOL.

Kat,
I'm surprised our chickens don't lay fried eggs.

That sounds hot and I'm complaining about 90. It's all relative though right. When it was like 60 only 2 weeks ago.

Josh,
Well, this afternoon the temp dropped from 96 to 76 in a couple of hours. I think that had something to do with the thunderstorms that gave us a power surge and of course killed my desktop, sucking up some unsaved info from a file I typed up earlier. That power surge business has happened for the last three days. Twice, I outsmarted it by saving. This time, it got me. I remembered everything but one item, so no major catastrophe.

Is there an "Even Steven" story in here?

knancy,
So it would seem.
